The
(un)ending love story
Does the
endless love exist and what follows next? Everyone will probably find their own
answer while watching the movies of Frederico Moccia’s series –
“Three Stepsabove Heaven” (2010) and “I want you”(2012),based on his breathtaking novels.
Both of the
films present the dramatic but romantic love story of the so cold “bad boy”
Step. The choice of Mario Casas as the protagonist seems to be the right one, regarding
his stunning and memorable play. The unpredictable plot will definitely hold
your interest until the end.
The main
contrast, which the viewer will notice, is the change of the object of Step’s
love. In the first movie Babi , played by Maria Valverde, seems convincingly like
the first and last girl in Step’s life, having in mind the way she changed his
character and the way he felt when she left him. Therefore the answer to the
posed in the beginning question will be clear but only up to the second part, where
Step meets Gin and despite the fact that Babi tries to come back into his life
again, he manages to continue his new life, without dwelling on the past.
Meanwhile Gin, performed in a brilliant way by Clara Lago, helps him to become
a superior man.
The strength
of “Three steps above Heaven” is the optimistic and a bit naïve view of what
love could do with a disobedient young man, but in my opinion , the second part
of Moccia’s series gives a realistic and more convincing impression to the
viewer, representing the ups and downs of the broken-hearted man. In brief , a
lot of questions and answers could appear during the watching, but I believe
that everyone should find them on their own, so these films are a definite
must-see.
